Because of the U.S. economic meltdown, Florida's growth began slowing in 2008. That is temporary. U.F.'s Bureau of Economic & Business Research projects a "... growth of about 234,000 a year between 2010 and 2020.

During those ten years natural increase accounted for 18.4% of Florida's population growth and net migration contributed 81.6%.
On April 1, 2012, Florida's population was 19,074,434. The projection for 2015 is 19,750,577. (Source: BEBR Bulletin 165, March 2013)
In June 2013 U.S. population was 316,075,275 according to the U.S. Census Bureau with a net gain of one person every 13 seconds. The growth included the addition of one international migrant every 44 seconds. While the U.S. is growing at a rate of 0.8%, approximately 2.5 million added annually, Europe and Japan have growth rates near zero.
